Make your own Piggy Bank

Making your own piggy bank is a lot of fun for your child. This is also a great opportunity to introduce the concept of saving.

Stop Feeding Your Kids Junk! - Skip the fast food and frozen TV dinners...Find out how easy it is to cook a home-cooked meal each night by planning it ahead of time. Grab your free Menu Planning Basics report at www.MenuPlanningCentral.com - and watch for the menu pack offer after you sign up.

You'll Need
  • A Balloon
  • Paste
  • Newspaper
  • Scissors
  • Masking Tape
  • Cardboard
  • Egg carton
  • Pipe Cleaner
  • Paint & Brushes
  • Hodge Podge

Directions:

Blow up the balloon and tie a knot at end. This will be the pig's body.

Tear the Newspaper into strips

Tape a cup from the Egg Carton over the knot of the balloon. This will be the pig's nose

Cut two ears from the cardboard and tape them to the balloon.

To make the legs, cut two circles from the cardboard. Cut each circle in half. Take each half circle and form a cone. Tape the cones to the underside of the pigs body as legs.

Cut and bend pipe cleaner into a curly tail and tape onto the large end of the balloon.

Paste about 4 layers of newspaper over the entire pig and let it dry for at least 2 days.

Ask a grownup to cut a rectangular coin slot in the top of your pig, then burst the balloon with a pin.

Decorate with paints and allow to dry.

Apply at least one coat of Hodge Podge to protect and strengthen your new piggy bank.
