Natural Easter Egg Dye

Use a natural Easter egg dye this year. You can create all sorts of different dye colors for your Easter eggs using all natural ingredients.

You'll Need
  • large pan
  • water
  • vinegar

Choose from the ingredients below depending on what color you like.

  • Beige to brown: Strong brewed coffee
  • Pale Red: Fresh beets or cranberries, frozen raspberries
  • Pale green: Spinach leaves
  • Orange: Yellow onion skins
  • Light yellow: Orange or lemon peels, carrot tops, celery seed or ground cumin
  • Yellow: Ground turmeric
  • Green-gold: Yellow Delicious apple peels
  • Blue: Canned blueberries or red cabbage leaves

Directions:

Put the eggs in the pan and add enough water to completely cover the eggs. Add a teaspoon of vinegar to the water as well as some of the natural ingredients above.

Bring the water to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Take the eggs out with a spoon and let them cool.

After you're done peeling and eating the eggs, use the shell pieces to make this fun mosaic craft.
