CD Craft Project

Do you ever wonder what you could do with all those useless CD Roms you have lying around? You and your kids can turn them into cute coasters. It's a fun craft that will also teach your child the basic blanket stitch.

• CDRom, or DVD
• 2 pieces of felt that will cover the cd
• Scissors
• blunt embroidery needle
• yarn or embroidery floss
• White glue
• Markers, assorted pieces of felt etc to decorate.

Directions:

Spread a little glue on one side of the CD and glue it to the wrong side of one of the pieces of felt. Let it dry for a few minutes, then use scissors to cut a circle about 1/4 inch wider than the CD all the way around. Repeat with the second piece of felt for the other side of the CD. The CD should now be sandwiched between two round pieces of felt.

Tread the needle with thread and work a blanket stitch all the way around the CD. Find the middle of the CD and secure the two pieces of felt with a cross stitch.

Decorate the coaster with markers or cut shapes out of leftover pieces of felt in different colors and glue them on the coaster.
