Make your own Piggy Bank

Making your own piggy bank is a lot of fun for your child. This is also a great opportunity to introduce the concept of saving.

You’ll Need
* A Balloon
* Paste
* Newspaper
* Scissors
* Masking Tape
* Cardboard
* Egg carton
* Pipe Cleaner
* Paint & Brushes
* Hodge Podge
Directions:
Blow up the balloon and tie a knot at end. This will be the pig’s body.
Tear the Newspaper into strips
Tape a cup from the Egg Carton over the knot of the balloon. This will be the pig’s nose
Cut two ears from the cardboard and tape them to the balloon.
To make the legs, cut two circles from the cardboard. Cut each circle in half. Take each half circle and form a cone. Tape the cones to the underside of the pigs body as legs.
Cut and bend pipe cleaner into a curly tail and tape onto the large end of the balloon.
Paste about 4 layers of newspaper over the entire pig and let it dry for at least 2 days.
Ask a grownup to cut a rectangular coin slot in the top of your pig, then burst the balloon with a pin.
Decorate with paints and allow to dry.
Apply at least one coat of Hodge Podge to protect and strengthen your new piggy bank.

Pet Rock Crafts For Kids

Spend a fun afternoon with the kids making these pet rock crafts. Pet rocks are easy to make and fun to play with.

You’ll Need
* Rocks
* Acrylic Paint
* Paint Brushes
* Glue
* Yarn Scraps, Felt & Wiggly Eyes (optional)
Directions:
Pick out the different rocks for your pet rock. You can use just a larger rock for the body and a smaller one for the head, or add additional rocks to make arms, legs and a tail.
Paint each rock in a solid color and allow it to dry. Then draw on extra features such as eyes, nose, mouth, hair, fur, feathers etc.
Glue the rocks together after all the paint is dry. Glue on wiggly eyes, yarn and felt scraps to finish your pet rock.
Now all that’s left is to give it a name.

How To Make A Penguin Puppet

What child doesn’t love to play with puppets? Add do your collection with these simple instructions on how to make a penguin puppet. All you need is an old black sock and a few crafting supplies. Before you know it, your child will be able to explore the world of penguins with this cute puppet.

You’ll Need
* Black Sock
* White Felt
* Orange Felt
* Black Felt
* Wiggly Eyes, Buttons Or Beads
* Scissors
* Glue
Directions:
We will turn an old black sock into a penguin puppet. Start by cutting an oval shape out of the white felt. Glue it on the sock to turn it into the penguin’s white belly.
Add the wiggly eyes, buttons or beads to the top of the sock as eyes. Wiggly eyes can be glued on, buttons or beads will stay in place better if you stick them on.
Cut a beak out of orange felt and glue it below the eyes. Cut two wings out of black felt and attach them to the penguins sides.
Now your penguin puppet is ready for play. Watch your child reply scenes from “Happy Feet” or create his own penguin character with this simple little penguin puppet craft.
