Free Chicken Noodle Soup

Do you know the saying "There's no such thing as a free lunch"?

Well, I'm proving that wrong today :)

I walked out to my mailbox a little while ago to find a nice little package addressed to me :)
( I can't help it - I still love getting mail when it's not junk or bills). I completely forgot that I ordered some free soup samples about two weeks ago.

E.D. Foods - Soup'er Free Sample

I have to say - I was impressed the moment I opened the package. Here's what I got

2 pouches of chicken noodle soup
2 pouches of tortilla soup
2 pouches of cheesy enchilada soup
2 pouches of tomato soup
2 pouches of vegetarian noodle soup

and a sample of one of their new sample teas

Included were also some recipes for differnt uses of the soup mixes. Apparently you can use them in dips, make sauce, or mix some in with burgers. The suggestions sound really good.

But back to the free lunch...

Of course my daughter was just as excited to help me open the package. It was about lunch time, so we decided to give the chicken noodle soup a try. It couldn't have been easier...

Boil a cup of water, add the soup mix and let it sit for 2 minutes.

A few minutes later...

We are both sitting at the kitchen table, slurping the noodle soup down. I'm usually not a fan of dry soup mixes - but this was great :)

I liked the fact that the noodle soup wasn't too salty. I stopped getting even the canned version because of the salt content. This soup just had the perfect amount of seasoning and the noodles turned out great as well.

I can't wait to try some of the other soup samples and will definitely be ordering more.

Give it a try and get your free soup samples here

E.D.
Have you been to the store lately? There's no denying it - it's time to start thinking about Halloween. The costumes and decorations for Halloween are already being stocked.

Now is a great time to consider either buying a costume or making one with your child.

If you are buying a costume, check out ebay. I have seen some great deals on both used and new costumes there in the past few weeks.

If you are thinking of making your child's Halloween Costume, or even better making it with your child this year, I have the perfect little guide for you.

I got together with my good friend Nicole Dean and started talking of how many great ideas for Halloween Costumes we both had. We put them all together (over 90 of them) in an ebook.

I have to admit, it turned out even better than I thought. We included detailed instructions on how to make each costumes and even added some illustrations. Take a look for yourself

The end of summer break is here and kids are starting to back to school. One of the first challenges for us parents are to get the kids back into some sort of sort of school routine.
Without it, it's hard to get everyone ready and out the door in the morning.

Here are some suggestions for a good morning routine
http://www.kinderinfo.com/articles/morning-routine-for-home.htm

Come up with a plan for the afternoon as well. It could look something like this

After School Snack - Fast and Easy Snacks For Kids

Homework

Go Play Outside

Dinner

Read a book with Mom or Dad

If you put a little bit of effort into creating a routine for your child at the beginning of the school year, school days will go a lot smoother all year long.

A great way to make sure your children get into their routines is to use a routine chart for kids.
Hope we all have a smooth transition "Back To School".

Talk to you soon,

I had no idea there was such a thing - but today is the official S'Mores Day. So it got me thinking about smores and I did a little research online.

The first written s'mores recipe was in a Girl Scouts Handbook in 1927. It was the first documented recipe that combined roasted marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers.

The Girl Scouts are also credited with the name S'mores which is short for "Gimme some more".

Enough history of s'mores though. Let's take a look at how you can enjoy delicious gooey s'mores today without a campfire to roast marshmallows on.

You could assemble a smore with unroasted marshmallows and then either very briefly microwave them, or wrap them in alluminum foil and bake them in the oven.

Or, you could give one of these s'mores inspried recipes a try instead.
