What Does S'Mores Stand For - And Other Discoveries on S'Mores Day

I had no idea there was such a thing - but today is the official S'Mores Day. So it got me thinking about smores and I did a little research online.

The first written s'mores recipe was in a Girl Scouts Handbook in 1927. It was the first documented recipe that combined roasted marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers.

The Girl Scouts are also credited with the name S'mores which is short for "Gimme some more".

Enough history of s'mores though. Let's take a look at how you can enjoy delicious gooey s'mores today without a campfire to roast marshmallows on.

You could assemble a smore with unroasted marshmallows and then either very briefly microwave them, or wrap them in alluminum foil and bake them in the oven.
